Susan Stewart, Interim Head of School

Susan Stewart has worked in the education and technology fields for over 25 years.  Prior to joining Wisconsin Virtual Academy, as its Interim Head of School, she served as the Head of Schools, for Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA) for over 5 years before moving into the Director, School Operations and Compliance for the Western Region of K12, Inc. 

During her time as the Head of School of WAVA, her leadership team focused on bringing educational opportunities, and academic improvements, to the students of Washington State.  As a result, WAVA was awarded the 2011 Washington Achievement Award for school performance improvement by the Washington State Board of Education and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) specifically for its high school academic performance.  She was actively involved with OSPI’s Digital Learning Department to establish guidelines, accountability, and approval of programs in Washington State focusing on the needs of students in alternative learning programs.  As the Director of School Operations and Compliance for the Western Region, Ms. Stewart provided regional leadership for school operations and compliance for new and existing schools within the region.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Stewart worked in the technology and petroleum industries as well as vocational education.  She served as the Executive Director and then the Vice President of Graduate Services for Business Computer Training Institute which focused on providing computer skills training for individuals who were re-entering the workplace.

Ms. Stewart has served on the Board of Directors, for non-profit youth sports organizations, which encourages health and fitness for young athletes. She is committed to bring educational opportunities and equity of these opportunities to all students.

 

Becky Eberhardt, Manager of Special Programs

Becky Eberhardt, Manager of Special ProgramsBecky Eberhardt is happy to be a part of the DCA-WIVA team! She obtained her master's degree from Cardinal Stritch University in May 2003. Becky has been a Special Education Director for approximately 11 years, spending four of those years in a dual role as both director and preK–12 principal in a small, rural district. She is married and has four sons ranging in age from seven to 19 and also has three dogs and two cats that complete her family. In her spare time, Becky enjoys camping with her family and spending time with friends.


 

Cindy Worden, Academic Administrator 9–12

CindyCindy Worden is a graduate from UW-Madison with a bachelor's degree in behavioral science and law and sociology. She earned her MSE in school counseling PK–12 from UW-Oshkosh. In December 2013, Cindy completed her MAE from Marian University with an emphasis in educational leadership. Cindy's professional experiences include high school counseling, dean of students, juvenile criminal justice, social work, and technology training. She has worked in virtual education since 2007.


 

Carrie Cherney, Assistant Academic Administrator 9–12

Carrie Cherney, Assistant Academic Administrator 9-12Carrie Cherney obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in mathematics, with a minor in education. She is obtaining her master's degree in educational leadership while teaching pre-calculus and AP® calculus and serving as the assistant academic administrator. Carrie taught at the middle school level for a year in the brick-and-mortar setting, followed by two years of teaching high school. She has been with WIVA since 2009 and looks forward to continually helping DCA-WIVA high schools reach their full potential.


 

Erin Haugom, Operations Manager

Erin Haugom, Operations ManagerErin Haugom joined the WIVA team as the operations manager in 2012. She has a bachelor's degree in human services and more than 10 years office experience in program coordination, data tracking and reporting, IT support services, and customer service. Erin looks forward to being part of DCA-WIVA and using her expertise to support the virtual learning community.
