Destinations Career Academy is thrilled to announce our October Students of the Month, selected by our dedicated school administration and teachers. These exceptional individuals have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, positive contributions to their pathways, and a strong commitment to their education.
Agriculture & Natural Resources: Josh Hurkmans
I am excited to nominate Josh for Student of the Month! He has started this school year on strong footing and continues to set a positive example for others. Josh consistently participates in class discussions, engages thoughtfully with peers, and demonstrates curiosity by asking insightful questions. In addition to his active participation, Josh stays organized and on top of assignments, showing dedication and responsibility in every task. He approaches learning with a positive attitude and a willingness to grow, making him a wonderful representative of what it means to be a successful and engaged student.

We’re proud to celebrate Serenity as our October Agriculture Pathway Student of the Month! Although new to DCA, Serenity has quickly made a positive impact by showing strong dedication, curiosity, and leadership in all her classes. Her enthusiasm for learning and willingness to take initiative have set a great example for her peers. Congratulations, Serenity—your DCA family is so glad to have you!
Business Management & Administration: Mady Kallaur
Mady is a determined worker and strives to do her best in everything she does. She engages with classmates and teachers alike sharing her opinions and experiences. Her outgoing nature has allowed her to take advantage of group project and extracurricular activism. Congratulations Mady on being the Business Management and Administration pathway student of the month.
Business Management & Administration: Deschun Lewis
We’re excited to honor Deschun as our October Business Pathway Student of the Month! Deschun has shown outstanding perseverance and a strong willingness to learn, consistently engaging in his education with a positive attitude. Construction & Engineering: Cody Sandstrom
Cody is a senior in the construction pathway this year. Despite challenges, Cody stays focused and determined to graduate. He set a strong example for the underclassmen in the Construction Pathway this month by completing the orientation course on time and earning high scores on his STAR tests. Great work Cody!
Health Sciences: Asia Ambrus
Asia is an incredibly outgoing, personable, and dedicated student. She shows a passion for learning by asking interesting questions and always can be counted on to participate. She brings a joyful energy to live class sessions, and it is infectious towards her peers, which helps to create an enjoyable class environment for all. Continue to light up the room, Asia!
Health Sciences: Sofia Scritsmier
We’re thrilled to recognize Sofia as our October Health Science Student of the Month! As a 12th-grade student in the Health Science Pathway, Sofia has shown incredible perseverance through challenges while maintaining a positive attitude and strong sense of leadership. Her dedication, compassion, and resilience make her a true role model for her peers, and we’re so proud of all she has achieved. Congratulations, Sofia—your DCA family is proud to celebrate you!
Information Technology: Aeden Macomber
Congratulations to Aeden, our Student of the Month! He is always a leader in class, jumping in to participate through the mic, chat, and screen share. He stays on top of his work and is always prepared to share his thoughts during class discussions. Not only does he ask great questions, but he also takes the time to help answer his classmates’ questions too. We’re so proud of his hard work and leadership—and excited to see him take it even further this year by joining SkillsUSA!
Law and Criminal Justice: Katiana Davis
Katiana is proactive, communicative, and positive to her peers. She is active and supportive in Homeroom and her courses and shows strong self-advocacy skills and is well-organized.
