Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical Gathering

We’re heading to the Children’s Theater of Madison to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical! Jeff Kinney’s popular character takes center stage as Greg’s cartoon diary becomes a hilarious and heartfelt musical. Will Greg’s plans to become popular lead him to sacrifice his one true friend? Grab a hall pass and don’t be late for an adventure familiar to anyone who has attended middle school.

Date: Wednesday, October 23rd

Time: 10am (Please arrive 30 minutes before this time.)

Cost: $10/Person (PayPal)

Parking for The MyArts Center: There is free street parking in the neighborhood surrounding the MYArts building. Parking in the MYArts Parking Ramp (1055 E. Mifflin) is $2/hour and can be accessed via Ingersoll St.

Open to all students and their families. Recommended for grades 4 and up. Children ages 3 and up are welcome.

12pm-1pm: LC Help Desk 

  • The Learning Coach Help Desk is an optional session that all learning coaches can attend if they need additional assistance.

12:25pm-1:05pm: Social Justice Club

  • We will learn, discuss, share, and act on social issues, particularly those affecting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.

1pm-2pm: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club

  • FBLA is a national student-led organization that empowers future business and IT professionals to become leaders with education, collaboration, competition, and experience. 

Tuesday, October 8th

12pm-1pm: LC Orientation

  • Learning Coach Orientation is a mandatory class for all new learning coaches to attend. Learning Coach Orientation sessions are offered every week on Tuesdays.

3:30pm-4pm: GeoGuessr Club

  • Let’s play GeoGuessr! A game where you use your knowledge of geography, language, and sometimes just luck to figure out where you are in the world on Google Maps!

3:40pm-5pm: Dungeons & Dragons Club

  • Create heroic characters for the world’s greatest roleplaying game, take part in collaborative fantasy storytelling, be a member of a time of like-minded role players, and have fun!

5pm-6pm: DCA LC Orientation

Wednesday, October 9th

12:05pm-1pm: Future Farmers of America (FFA) Club

  • FFA is a national organization working with students who have an interest in agriculture, leadership, and personal and professional growth. We will have opportunities to travel to conventions, attend leadership workshops, network with other students, and join competitions!

1pm-2pm: K12 LC Mental Health Series – Supporting Your Child After Trauma

  • This course provides parents with knowledge and practical strategies to support their child’s recovery and resilience after trauma. Learn about the effects of trauma, identifying triggers, creating a safe environment, promoting communication, and accessing professional support. Expert facilitators guide interactive sessions with case studies and additional resources. Empower parents to help their child heal and thrive.

2pm-3pm: K12 Virtual Field Trip – “Stories in Art” at the Norton Museum of Art

K12 Minecraft Challenge: K12 Days of Kindness Build

  • Dive into a world where emotions come to life and find what brings you joy! In this build challenge, you will meet Joy and Anxiety from Inside Out 2. Solve a puzzle using Microsoft MakeCode then use Minecraft as a canvas to build a representation of something that brings joy to your life. To play this world you will need to download Minecraft Education and use your K12 login credentials to activate your license to play the game world. So, what is something that brings you joy? Show off your Minecraft skills by building how you find joy – and your build could win you a $25 Amazon e-gift card!

K12 Game On Competition

  • Enter K12’s annual game development competition. Pitch your idea for an educational video game, show off your creativity, and win big prizes! The K12 Game On Competition is open to students in grades K-12. Students will be split into divisions based on their grade level and judged against students in the same division. Students interested in participating should pitch their idea for an educational video game by 4:00pm on November 18th. Parents or guardians must enter on behalf of students ages 13 or under.

K12 Robotics Competition 2025

  • Time to gear up for the 2025 K12 Robotics Competition. Your student can showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and coding expertise for a chance to win $500! The K12 Robotics Competition is open to students in grades 4-12. Students will compete against others in their grade band. To enter, students must have Virtual Robotics Toolkit (VRT) software, which can be downloaded for just $50. This powerful software is an essential tool for designing, building, and programming the robots that will take part in the competition. The software will serve as the virtual playground for participants to create and test their robotic solutions. Students interested in participating should download the VRT software and complete the registration form by 4:00pm on December 16th. Parents or guardians must enter on behalf of students under the age of 13.
