Celebrating Our May Students of the Month!

Stories & Spotlights
student of month May 2026

Destinations Career Academy is thrilled to announce our May Students of the Month, selected by our dedicated school administration and teachers. These exceptional individuals have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, positive contributions to their pathways, and a strong commitment to their education.

Agriculture & Natural Resources: Rin Ferreira

This month, we are proud to recognize Rin Ferreira as our May Student of the Month for the  AG & Natural Resource Pathway. They have truly demonstrated perseverance, growth, and  self-advocacy throughout the school year. Despite facing challenges along the way, Rin  has continued to show determination and a commitment to their success in the  classroom. We are incredibly proud of Rin’s growth and the positive outlook they bring  each day!

Business Management & Administration: Katie Jacobson

Katie Jacobson continues to make a strong impact both inside and outside of the  classroom during her third year at DCA. Through her leadership, work ethic, and positive  classroom presence, she has become an outstanding example of student success and  involvement.

One of Katie’s biggest accomplishments this year was qualifying for the Future Business  Leaders of America National Leadership Conference in Project Management. She earned  first place at the Regional Competition to advance to State, where she placed third overall  in Wisconsin and secured her spot as a national qualifier. Her success reflects the  dedication, and professionalism she brings to everything she does.

Katie Jacobson is also part of the Youth Apprenticeship program, a partnership between  school and local employers that provides students with real world career experience while  earning school credit. Through this program, she works at a furniture store in Hayward  where she manages the company website, creates social media promotions,  and assists with customer service. Her ability to apply classroom learning in an authentic  business setting demonstrates both responsibility and career readiness.

Academically, Katie challenges herself with a rigorous course schedule that includes  dual credit college opportunities and industry certification courses. In live classes, she  consistently contributes by coming on mic, sharing ideas, and encouraging discussion  among classmates. Katie does not simply attend class, she makes a presence and helps  create a positive learning environment for others.

Construction & Engineering: Brycen Rodebush

Brycen Rodebush brings a warmth and kindness to the Construction and Engineering  pathway. When he participates, he always bring a positive energy into our online  atmosphere. He is passionate about many things including baking. We are so proud of him  and are excited to see what kind of amazing things he does with his future!

Health Sciences: Kenya’ Pratt

Kenya’ has demonstrated consistent dedication and professionalism in Health Sciences.  She comes to class prepared, maintains attendance, and participates in discussions. In  addition, Kenya’ consistently produces high-quality work, showing strong attention to  detail and a clear understanding of course concepts. Her commitment to learning and  growth makes her a deserving Health Sciences Student of the Month.

Information Technology: Mason Lieburn

Mason Lieburn has become a positive and engaging presence in class through his active  participation, creativity, and willingness to share thoughtful and fun ideas.  He demonstrates strong self-awareness by recognizing areas where he wants to improve  and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks. Recently, he  earned his IC3 Level 1 certification and is continuing to work toward becoming an IC3

Digital Literacy Master by preparing for the remaining certification exams. His growth  mindset and determination make him deserving of Student of the Month recognition.

Law and Criminal Justice: Dani Downing

Dani is the Law Pathway Student of the Month for May for her consistent engagement and  academic excellence. She actively participates in class, contributes thoughtful ideas,  and demonstrates a genuine commitment to learning. Her positive attitude and dedication  help create a productive classroom environment, making her a great role model for her  peers.
